So what do I recommend to do?

Nobody here can say that they haven't been warned for weeks/months about a market downturn. So it's in progress. If the dollar stays strong its TLT, TVD, UUP & TMF. If the dollar weakens buy more GLD. Deflation? Short GLD & commodities.
This isn't rocket science. Learn how to play or stay in cash, bonds. I am learning as I go but it's a lot of fun.
